The Ginkgo Tree - Our Story

The Ginkgo Tree Creative Studio is a digital marketing company with a difference - we focus on strong storytelling to connect to your audience through videos, web design, events and social media advertising. We work with Non Profits, unique small businesses, creatives and wellness businesses/organizations so you can make a difference. Our strengths are in videos storytelling, beautiful, functional and SEO optimized Squarespace websites, Facebook/Instagram advertising, and creative, community based events. The Ginkgo Tree was formed by husband and wife team Jarrod and Emma Hall. The following is our story…

The Seed:
Visual & Performing Arts

Jarrod grew up in the Wimmera, then studied Fine Art at the VCA. Emma was born in Perth, lived in Melbourne, then Ballarat. She studied a B.A. in Performance Studies (Theatre). Jarrod and Emma met while at uni, when they both moved into a 10 bedroom share house in Kew.

Lessons Learnt: Storytelling changes the world

The Sprout:
Travelling The World

After getting married, Jarrod and Emma lived in Taiwan. Jarrod went on to become a High School art teacher and Emma into event/stage management in Melbourne. After their son was born, a few years later they moved to South Korea for 9 years. During that time they created a short documentary film as well as worked in journalism focusing on telling people’s stories.

Lesson Learnt: Anything can be possible

The Ginkgo Tree:

Growing strong and tall

Jarrod and Emma moved to Australia in 2017, and setup a video production business and event/marketing business. After a very rough time with family having various illnesses, finally in 2022, they had the time and space to start to rebrand and combine businesses to create a beautiful new business, The Ginkgo Tree Creative Studio.

Lesson learnt: Becoming strong to accept help

Jarrod Hall
Visual Storyteller, Artist, Video Producer

Jarrod is a short documentary film producer, photographer, and editor, as well as an illustrator and artist. His film making and photography is inspired by great documentarians such as Mary Ellen Mark, Sebastio Salgado and Matthew Allard.

Jarrod’s other passions include bikes in all their shapes and sizes (the weirder the better), human rights, & Japanese Shin Hanga woodblock prints.

Emma Hall
Project & event manager, web designer, marketer

Emma grew up being interested in performing arts, natural medicine and visual design. She has spent 7 years in the event and marketing industry and has a Degree in Performance Studies and a Diploma in Entertainment (Stage Management). She excelled at marketing!
Her superpower is complicated problem solving, bringing groups of people together to achieve great things, and being soft and caring, tempered with a strong discipline to keep things moving.

She finds great inspiration from Falun Dafa, a mind body cultivation from the Buddhist school. She spends her spare time with family and in nature to recharge.
